I LOVE boho themed weddings. I think they are gorgeous, simple, and timeless. Plus, I think they are super easy to DIY. As long as you stick to a neutral color pallet, you can mix and match different pieces to create an effortless, stunning look.
I did all of the décor for my wedding myself, including the flowers, ceremony décor, and centerpieces. In total, I spent around $1,200. While that may seem like a lot for DIY décor, I got quotes between $1500 and $5,000 for décor, and that was not including flowers! My floral estimate ALONE was $4,500.
I saved hundreds, if not thousands, by doing everything myself – plus, I was able to reuse some décor in my home and resell the rest, making back almost $400. If you do the math, that means I really only spend $800 on wedding décor and flowers. NOT BAD if you ask me!!
In this post, I am going through ALL of the DIY boho wedding décor from my wedding. I’ve included links to everything I purchased off of Amazon, and for the items I thrifted or picked up at a store like Home Goods, I’ve included links to similar options on Amazon.
I hope that this post gives you inspiration for your own boho wedding, and gives you confidence that you can do your décor yourself!

DIY Boho Wedding Decor Tips
Before we jump into all of my DIY boho wedding décor, I want to offer a bit of advice. Doing your own wedding décor isn’t the easiest thing. Yes it saved me money and I was able to pick out exactly what I wanted, but it took me a long time to collect the pieces and lots of trial and error. I swear, I was worried Amazon was going to ban me for the amount of things I ordered and returned. Putting together cohesive centerpieces is pretty challenging!
After I finally made a decision on what I wanted to keep, we had to store it! Our house was crammed full of wedding stuff for months leading up to the wedding. It was seriously started to feel claustrophobic in there.
Packing everything in the car was a challenge, even with our 3 row SUV. We had family and friends loading up their car with stuff that wouldn’t fit in ours.
When it came time for the wedding, I had to make sure my coordinator knew exactly how I wanted everything set up, which meant I had to take pictures of mock set-ups and keep everything extremely organized.
All of that being said, I am still so happy with our decision and would totally do it again. These are just some things to be aware of before you jump into your own DIY boho wedding decor.
Here are some tips for how to DIY boho wedding décor.
- Get clear on your vision before you start shopping
- Make a list of everything you need
- Use décor pieces you already have
- Frequent thrift shops and retail stores like HomeGoods
- Check out facebook marketplace
- Don’t be afraid to mix and match pieces
- Warm, neutral colors are your friend
- Add various textures
- Have an intention for an item before you buy it
- Buy items that you can reuse or resell
- Stay super organized and keep track of costs
- Hire a coordinator to set up your décor on the wedding day

Flowers
Instead of hiring a florist, I ordered dried flowers online. I LOVE dried flowers. Not only are they absolutely perfect for a boho wedding, but they are more affordable, don’t require water, and will last forever!
![](https://thesimplifiedbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/DSC_5911_websize-1024x683.jpg)
I can’t stand the idea of paying thousands of dollars for live flowers just to throw them away the night of the wedding. Once your wedding is over, you can use your dried flowers as household décor or sell them online!
Hair Piece
My grandmother used flowers from Amazon to make my hairpiece, clips for my bridesmaids, and a flower crown for my little sister.
She ordered two sets of mini bouquets and dissembled them. She ordered this set in pure white and this one in grey.
These mini bouquets could also be used as boutonnieres!
Boutonnieres
I ordered our boutonnieres from an Etsy shop. You can find the exact boutonniere by clicking here. They were gorgeous and matched my other flowers perfectly.

Bridal Bouquet
I purchased my bridal bouquet from the etsy shop Fernandsunpalm.
I cannot say enough good things about this seller. She offers gorgeous bouquets, she ensured that they would arrive in time for the wedding, and she packaged the flowers so meticulously to make sure that they were not damaged during shipping.
I love how unique this bouquet was. It matched my vision perfectly and was pretty affordable!
Bridesmaid Bouquets
I purchased my bridesmaids bouquets from the same Etsy shop as my bouquet.
The bridesmaid bouquets are actually listed as small bud vase arrangements, so they were very affordable!
I asked the seller if she would add the same fabric that was on my bridal bouquet, and she did free of charge!
After the ceremony, my girls put their bouquets in the vases on our round tables to use as centerpieces.
When the wedding was over, they were each able to take theirs home to keep in their house.

Welcome Table
We had a few things set up for our welcome table area. We had a standard table for our guestbook and card box, a large foam board welcome sign, and this beautiful bamboo arch shelf.
![DIY boho wedding decor how to display guest favors](https://thesimplifiedbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/DSC_4555_websize-1024x683.jpg)
This shelf came from our house, so it was totally free to use. I knew I wanted to incorporate it because it has that perfect boho look. We used the shelf to display our guest favors, a few vases and candles, and a picture of us.

Guest Favors
The main favors we provided to guests were these beer koozies. I ordered them from Etsy and loved the way they turned out. Guests loved them too!
No matter what guest favors you have, I would think of a cute way to display them. This is a great way to add another décor element or personal touch to your wedding!
The shelf and all of the other baskets were things we already had in our home, so it cost us nothing!
If you don’t already have baskets, you could easily collect a few from thrift shops or stores like Home Goods and TJ-Maxx.
Fans
If you are having an outdoor wedding, I LOVE the use of fans for both décor and guest favors.
They are practical because guests can use them to block the sun or cool themselves down, but they are also very cute and on brand with the boho vibe.
My favorite kind are these woven raffia fans. You can buy them on Amazon by clicking here.
The raffia fans are a bit pricey, so I also got a few of these wooden fans to supplement.
We also used the fans as props in photos. My girls used them to cover their eyes during my dress reveal and I loved the way it turned out.

Ceremony Table Décor
Unfortunately I do not have a professional picture of my welcome table, but I have included my mock set-up below! The wooden box is an old wine box I got from my grandparents, so I do not have a link for that, but these decorative rattan boxes from amazon are gorgeous and super boho.
Letterboard
I got this ceremony sign inspo from Pinterest and used this letterboard from Amazon to recreate it. I love the way it turned out.
Confetti Cones
These confetti cones were very cheap but, tbh, kind of a pain to put together. Totally worth it for the pictures though!

Ceremony Décor
We went pretty minimal for our ceremony decor, and I think it still turned out beautifully. Although I really wanted a large floral arrangement for the arbor, we decided against it to save some money (those things are expensive!)
![DIY boho wedding decor ceremony](https://thesimplifiedbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/MK1_6809_websize-1024x683.jpg)
I picked up the vases along the aisle from Hobby Lobby and Home Goods. I would advise not buying larger vases like these from Amazon as they tend to be much more expensive.

Dried Palms
I ordered multiple different sizes, shapes, and colors of dried palm leaves. These added some different textures and added a beachy element.
I got all of my dried palms from Afloral, which offers them at a very affordable price.
If you want to stick to ordering through Amazon, this is a good option for the larger fan palms like the one in this photo.
I also had quite a few palm spears, which have the more triangular shape instead of the fan shape.
Pampas Grass
You can’t have a boho wedding without pampas grass.
I compared prices on tons of websites and, believe it or not, I found the cheapest place to buy pampas grass to be Amazon.
I ordered 5 sets of this 40″ pampas grass in style A. Each order came with at least 10 large and fluffy pieces.
It was packaged nicely, fluffed up beautifully, and didn’t shed much.
Remember that you will need to place the pampas grass in the sun for a few hours for it to get fluffy. I would also shake it out very well before bringing it inside to remove any loose pieces. Spraying it with hairspray can help prevent shedding as well.

Jute Rug
We are standing on this super cute jute braided rug from Amazon.
We purchased the 4′ rug, but after seeing the photos, I wish we would have gone with a slightly bigger one.
Lanterns
Lanterns are an absolute must for a boho wedding. They add that perfect warm accent and look great when mixed and matched together.
I collected lanterns and vases from multiple stores, including Target, World Market, Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, and various thrift shops. Unfortunately, Amazon does not offer the most affordable options so I don’t have any linked here.
Fun fact, we were actually supposed to be getting married under an iconic driftwood arch that permanently stands at the end of this pier, but a huge storm came through the keys just days before our wedding. I got a call the morning of our rehearsal dinner that the arch had been destroyed.
Luckily, our caterer came in clutch and was able to set up this wooden arbor the day of the wedding. It was absolutely perfect. Just a reminder that things will probably go wrong, but it will all be okay!

Sweetheart Table
I love how our sweetheart table turned out. If you have the budget, wooden tables definitely give more of a boho vibe. We wanted to save a bit of money here, so this was the only wooden table we rented (our guests had standard tables with white tablecloths).
![DIY boho wedding decor sweetheart table](https://thesimplifiedbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/DSC_6129_websize-956x1024.jpg)
Backdrop
I put together the backdrop for our sweetheart table using this copper backdrop stand and woven macramé curtain backdrop from Amazon. This could double as a photo backdrop for guests to use before the reception as well! The backdrop also served to block the ugly tent pole behind us.
Table runner
We purchased our table runner from Hobby Lobby, but this macramé table runner from Amazon is almost identical.

Candles
Our venue did not allow open flame, so we used a combination of 6″ taper candles and 11″ taper candles. Both sizes had a beautiful flickering flame, came with remotes with multiple control settings, and looked the most realistic out of all the ones I tried (and I tired a lot). We also used a few small flameless tea lights.
I purchased two different styles of candlestick holders. We used these gold candlestick holders from Amazon and these speckled ceramic taper candle holders from World Market.
Lanterns and Vases
Most of the lanterns and vases used for our sweet heart table were also used as ceremony décor and were moved here after the ceremony ended, however, I purchased the textured vase on the right side of the table from Amazon. This is where I placed my bouquet after the ceremony.
Here’s everything we purchased from amazon for our sweetheart table:
Round Table Centerpieces
For our reception, we had 6 round tables and 4 rectangular tables, so we had two different sets of centerpieces. Round tables typically look better with one large centerpiece instead of many smaller ones.
![DIY boho wedding decor reception](https://thesimplifiedbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/DSC_6138_websize-1024x683.jpg)
We kept our round table centerpieces pretty simple with one large vase, a candlestick, a table number, and some tealights. Everything sat on a woven placemat, which added some warmth and helped provide contrast against the white tablecloths.

Bubble Vases
I purchased 6 of these unique bubble vases from Amazon for our round tables. My bridesmaids placed their bouquets in them after the ceremony.
Woven placemat
We placed our centerpiece décor on round 15″ woven placemats from Hobby Lobby. Here is a similar option from Amazon.
I love how this turned out. I think the placemats made the centerpiece look much more intentionally styled and added some contrasting color.
Gold Table Number Stand
These simple gold table number holders were incredibly affordable and easy to use.
Recreate this look:
Gold Candlestick Holders
These gold candlesticks from Amazon were the perfect accent and tied in the gold flatware. The only downside was that the fake candles did not stand perfectly straight in them.
Candles
If your venue does not allow open flame, you’ve got to check out these 6″ candlesticks from Amazon. They looked pretty realistic and came with 2 remotes and multiple settings.
I also loved these small LED tea lights because they were very affordable and added beautiful flickering light all around our venue. We put them everywhere!
See these products below:

Rectangular Table Centerpieces
Rectangular tables look great with multiple smaller pieces mixed and matched along the middle of the table. We added beige table runners, small white vases with mini floral arrangements, and a few candlesticks.
![DIY boho wedding decor long table centerpieces](https://thesimplifiedbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/DSC_6140_websize-1024x683.jpg)
Table Runner
I loved these 13′ beige cheesecloth table runners from Amazon. They added the perfect amount of texture to our tables the color looked beautiful against the off-white table cloth and really paired with the sandy beach floor.

Table Numbers
We used gold frames for the table numbers on our rectangular tables. Initially I purchased the 4X6 size, but ended up exchanging them for the larger 5X7 frame.
These were great because they were plastic and visible on both sides. I simply printed the table numbers on cardstock paper at Staples and placed them in the frames.
Candles
Again, we used a combination of 6″ and 11″ taper candles, as well as the gold candlestick holders from amazon and the white and brown speckled ones from World Market. We also placed the LED tealights in small, white ramekins from amazon.

Small Vases
These were the cutest little ceramic vases! They were prefect height to add a small bouquet without blocking guests’ vision. Click here to view them on Amazon.
Flowers
These mini bouquets were incredibly easy to put together. They consist of a couple dried palms, some pampas grass, and a few bunny tails.
My maid of honor helped me assemble them before the wedding using twist ties to hold them together.
I highly recommend buying dried flowers in bulk and assembling the bouquets yourself. You can save a lot of money this way!
Small Pampas
I purchased the small white pampas grass from Koyal Wholesale. It was a great deal because it came with almost 100 pieces.
Koyal Wholesale has a lot of great bulk wedding décor options, most of which you can buy through Amazon. Click here to view the pampas grass on Amazon.
Bunny Tails
The bunny tails came from Trader Joes, which always has extremely affordable flowers. However, you could buy these bunny tails from Amazon as well.
Dried Palm Spears
I found Afloral to be the most affordable website for dried palms, but Amazon has these dried spears as an alternative option.
