Welcome to The Simplified Bride |The Blog Begins
About Me
Hi!! I’m Luna – the creator of this blog and The Simplified Bride. I am a 6th grade science teacher with a new-found passion for wedding planning.
It all started on a snow-covered mountain in Patagonian Argentina when the love of my life dropped a knee and popped the question (more on that story later).
While planning a wedding on your own with a full-time job is no easy feat, I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience and found that I’m pretty darn good at it, too! So, I decided to take all that I’ve learned, organize it, and share it through this blog.
Why I Started a Blog
The passion
Immediately after getting engaged, I started thinking about wedding planning. I googled “what to do after getting engaged” and “first steps of wedding planning.” I went to my old wedding Pinterest boards only to delete everything very quickly because WOW my style in middle school was bad (anyone else in the same boat?). While on Pinterest, I started pinning a million things to my new wedding board and sharing one thousand ideas a minute with my *cough cough* fiancé (it was so weird to say that).
I felt so energized and excited by this new task of mine, and it was like a lightbulb went off. Was I meant to be a wedding planner?
It makes sense, I’ve always been a planner. I write out my to do lists for the day and love planning events like trips and parties. In college, we would throw legendary Halloween and New Years Eve parties that I would look forward to all year. I am an organization nerd and have always had a knack for design. It all makes sense.
The further I got with my own wedding planning, the more I considered the possibility of a career change. Although I did tons of research, I wasn’t ready to make any major decisions yet. I was teaching middle school full time and planning my own wedding, so I had enough on my plate already. But, I did start thinking about how I could dip my toe into the wedding planning world.
The decision
I knew that the more I learned, the more I had to offer, and that I could provide the answers to questions that I had spent hours researching. Somewhere along the way I decided what I would do – I was going to start a blog. So now along with working and wedding planning, I was learning WordPress, researching SEO, and trying to understand the blogging world. I made my website pretty quickly but as wedding planning ramped up, I did not make much progress on it. Now a year later, after having the wedding of my dreams and marrying my best friend, I am writing my first blog post.
Who Is This Blog For?
My main intention with this blog is to reach couples who are planning a wedding without a planner. This industry is a whole new world and going through it alone can be intense and overwhelming – I want to help with that. Although I am not a professional planner, I’ve been in your shoes and have tips that will save you time, money, and stress. While all are welcome, you will benefit the most from this blog if …
- You just got engaged and have literally no idea where to start with wedding planning.
- You’ve started wedding planning and are totally overwhelmed.
- You are straight up stressin’ about the cost of weddings and want some money saving tips.

What you can expect
I’ve always loved organization, planning, and design – mix in my experience teaching and creating content for my students, and I have a lot to offer. I will be sharing lots of inspiration and some bits of my own experience, but also diving deep into all the technical aspects of a wedding and answering questions you didn’t even know you had. Questions like…
- How do I set a wedding budget?
- What should I put on my save the dates?
- How many people fit at a 60” table?
- What size tent do I need?
- What is the standard order of a processional?
- How can I cut wedding costs?
- What should the father of bride wear?
- How do I make a wedding website?
- What types of catering are there?
- What should my wedding party wear?
- How do I pick a wedding dress?
- What are common wedding traditions?
- When should I send invitations?
- Where the heck do I even start??
I am so excited to share important information, inspiration, DIY ideas, checklists, timelines, and more. Expect weekly posts with tips and tricks to help you feel confident in your wedding planning.
Well, that’s it – my first every blog post! I already can’t wait for next week’s. I’m so excited you’re here!
